North West is making headlines after Kardashian/Yeezy fans saw more of her spunky personality. The 10-year-old daughter of TV personality and entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian, and rapper and designer, Kanye West, talked to I.D Magazine for her first solo interview this week.
West was far from shy in her interview and photo shoot. The interview was published in a question-and-answer format where she was asked an array of questions about herself. Fan favorite questions were:
“Who is your style icon?” to which West responded, “Me.”
“What three words would you use to describe yourself?” West replied, “Umm… The best ever.”
When asked what West wanted to be when she was older, West responded, “A basketball player, a rapper, um… Well, when I was seven, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side. When I’m, like, thirteen, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner.”
Peoples responses to the interview
Fans were quick to compare West’s blunt personality to her dad. Kanye does not have the best reputation after he made multiple antisemitic comments publicly; however, his big personality and artistic vision can definitely be seen in West’s mannerisms.
Readers voiced West’s personality is made for the limelight and hoped she would become a business women like her mom or rapper like her father, in the appropriate time. Often times the Kardashian/Jenner family post their children online, but are generally private about the details about their kids’ personal lives. Therefore, the interview with I.D. was interesting for fans because people were able to learn more about the West as she continues to grow into her own person.
North’s online presence
As of now West’s social media use is restricted by her parents. While she does not have a public Instagram account, she shares a @KimandNorth TikTok account with her mother. On the account Kardashian and North post videos of them dancing or lip-syncing to viral TikTok sounds, however all commenting options are turned off. Their TikTok account has over 17 million followers and the mother daughter duo post to the account frequently.
It can be assumed the account has such a large following because fans are trying to learn as much as possible about West, since her parents don’t reveal much insight. West’s personality in the TikTok videos is very enthusiastic and reveals her high interest in social media.
PR Moves I would make for North following her Interview:
As West gets older, it’s likely Kardashian will allow her to do more interviews similar to I.D.’s, to slowly establish her own brand. With her big personality and her interest in using TikTok frequently, it would make sense if she expanded on those traits. In a dream world if I were managing North West here is what I would do:
Feature North on a song
In 2020 North went viral for singing in Paris for her dad’s fashion show. Fans were excited to see West on stage with her dad because of Kanye’s musical background. Clips of Kardashian crying during West’s performance inspired for a lot of memes that circulated on the internet for weeks. I think when West gets older and can write decent lyrics she should be featured on a song with one of the current rappers at the time and create a music video recreating her moms’ reaction.
Create a kids clothing line for Target
Similar to singer and dancer, JoJo Siwa, I think West can grow a younger fan base who would want to follow her bold style.
Recently West has been spotted hanging out with her mom at public events and she never fails to wear a stylish outfit. Allowing her to create a kids’ line would not only test her creativity but also relate to kids closer to her age who will hopefully grow up with her, as some people did with Kardashian. Placing the clothing line in an accessible store like Target will also allow more people to buy her clothing brand.
Create a kids’ coloring book
Since West was a young kid, her mother has proudly shown off pictures of the paintings and drawings that her daughter created. In another attempt to relate to kids her age, West can create a coloring or painting book using the images she’s already crafted. West is a talented artist and creating a book can inspire young kids to follow suit.
